Olympus, Olympus, Olympus

This is my first post on my blog. which is also my first blog. For the next couple of months i would like to blog about cameras and in my opinion what would be great design or ergonomics for camera for me. It might not be good for you or anyone there but these ideas i think would be good for me.

So without talking any more crap let get to the what i am about to blog about. Firstly some background about me. I am currently a working photographer on the island of Penang in Malaysia. If you like to check my work out go to http://facebook.com/eyedearphoto.

I have been a Canon User since the DSLR revolution. but was a olympus user before my fist Canon DSLR. Currently i am using a Canon 5D Mark 2. I have been quite happy with the 5D2 the only thing was its big and its heavy and sometimes you just don't want to take it out with you. and it attracts too much attention.

Recently i was given the opportunity to try out the Olympus XZ-1 a premium compact camera. Now i have use many premium compact camera from a a canon G10, G12, Panasonic LX3 and others. this was the first camera that got me really excited.

Upon receiving the XZ-1 i took out for some fun shooting. the camera was easy going and up to speed. Coming from a DSLR you would know what i mean. The camera responds very fast almost similar to a DSLR. General usability was good and the lens ring for adjusting ISO ,aperture and other are good.

Now we come to the lens and i can honestly say its the best lens on any compact out there and the aperture is perfect from F1.8-F2.5. Please remember its F2.5 at 112mm on fullframe equivalent focal lens and thats even bigger than  some camera largest aperture at the wide end. but the most important thing is the lens is sharp even when its wide open. Please do note that i am a pixel peeper i check everything at 100% and i am happy to say it sharp be it wide open or stopped down.

ok now lets wind this up. i think most people would like to see images that i took with the XZ-1. on my next blog i will show you what the small camera is capable of. This is just the start. signing of for now
